Cyclists Open Six-Day Grind
BUFFALO, N.Y., (AP) -- Thirty bike racers matched speed, skill and endurance Tuesday night as Buffalo's 12th international six-day race started in Memorial Auditorium.
The 147-hour grind revives a sport missing here for seven years.
Three teams are regarded generally as favorites. They are Angelo Di Bacco and Cesare Morelli of Italy, Hugo Koblet and Walter Diggleman of Switzerland, and Francis Grauss and Andre Pousse of France.
Torchy Peden of Victoria and Rene Cyr of Montreal are paired in the event. Laurent Gadou of Montreal is partnered with Mickey Francois of Montclair, N.J.
